Residents of Elburgon town in Molo Constituency, Nakuru County, expressed their outrage on Sunday by storming the Elburgon Police Station following the tragic murder of local activist Richard Otieno, widely known as Molo President.
Otieno was brutally attacked and killed by unknown assailants on Saturday night, just a short distance—approximately 200 meters—from the police station. His death has sparked intense anger among the community, leading to disruptions in business activities throughout the area as residents demand accountability from law enforcement.
A vocal critic of the government and local MP Kimani Kuria, Otieno had long called for action on unfulfilled campaign promises. In the 2022 elections, he ran for the Elburgon MCA seat but was unsuccessful. Additionally, he was among those arrested during the recent Gen Z protests in Molo, where he was accused of leading demonstrations advocating for change.
The community, grieving the loss of a prominent activist, is now demanding answers and justice for Otieno.
