Kisumu police detain man in deadly stabbing due to Ksh 50 dispute

Police in Kisumu have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man during a dispute over Ksh 50. The victim, an unidentified student from the Kisumu Rotary Vocational Training Centre located near the Fanana area, sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest during the altercation.

Witnesses reported that the conflict erupted at a local betting shop and quickly escalated into violence. Following the incident, tensions rose on Thursday evening when a group of youths gathered, expressing anger and seeking revenge for the student’s death.

In response to the escalating situation, authorities acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect, identified as Faiba, near the Kisumu bus park. Law enforcement officials also managed to disperse the crowd to maintain order and prevent further unrest.

The suspect is expected to face charges in court once investigations are concluded. Meanwhile, police are continuing to monitor the area to ensure the safety of the community and prevent any potential flare-ups.
