Jubilee nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have both officially declared their political allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto’s Hustlers’ Movement.
Both Sonko and Mwaura joined the Deputy President on 31st December 2020 at Babla grounds in Msambweni for the thanksgiving ceremony of the newly elected Msambweni MP Feisal Bader. Speaking during the event, former Governor Mike Sonko criticized President Kenyatta for his recent impeachment despite his unwavering loyalty to the President.
On his part, Senator Mwaura singled out the Kenyatta family for blame accusing them of being in power for more than 25 years and that that was enough. Ironically Mwaura was amongst the first Senators to deconstruct Sonko on the floor of the Senate thereby influencing more Senators to vote YES for the former Governor’s impeachment while all the Senators leaning towards the Deputy President voted NO.
In a Nation Africa video clip, at the end of his speech Senator Mwaura was officially welcome to the Hustler’s Movement by former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama who announced in Swahili ” As the Chairman of hustlers movement in Kenya, I take this opportunity to welcome Senator Mwaura to the politics of the Hustlers Movement”. Muthama who recently registered the United Democratic Alliance with the wheelbarrow symbol associated with the Deputy President presented Mwaura with the party cap. Mwaura’s speech is captured in the Nation Africa video below.
