Moi University Students Organisation President Mr. Albert Maloba has been cited by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe for his efforts in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter dated 16th June 2020, the CS expressed his appreciation towards Mr. Maloba’s remarkable contribution to the Covid-19 mitigation and prevention. “I thank you for your kind words and assure you that my Ministry will continue to work with other stakeholders, especially during this period in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.” The letter reads.
On his part, Mr. Maloba called upon the Ministry of Education to resume learning for medical students to complete their degrees since they are a key resource in the management of this pandemic.According to him, these students play a significant role in campus managed hospitals such as the Moi Teaching and Referral, Kenyatta university Hospital and Mount Kenya University Hospital amongst others.
He added that they are practitioners who are in a better position to take good care of themselves unlike students pursuing other faculties who may be vulnerable to the pandemic in one way or the other. With many students out of the campus, Mr. Maloba believes that there is enough space to accommodate these medical practitioners and this will enable them achieve social distancing as recommended by the Ministry of Health.
