The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal today barred Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) from leaving the Azimio One Kenya Alliance party of Kenya.
The ruling pronounced by the tribunal Chaiman Mr. Desma Nungo threw out a case filed by Maendeleo Chap Chap and PAA seeking suspension of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party agreement dated April 14, 2022.
According to the two parties, they do not have a copy of the agreement they signed and that their inclusion as members of the Azimio Coalition is conspicuously untenable, unlawful, null and void for non-compliance with both the Party constitution, the relevant statutory provisions and the Constitution.
Nungo said there is no way MCC would have proceeded to execute a Coalition agreement of such magnitude without reading and understanding the same. He further rules that the argument cannot be used as ground of exit as no request or effort was made towards getting a copy of the same from the Registrar of political parties.
