Public Service CS Justin Muturi faces imminent dismissal, claims Belgut MP Nelson Koech

Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech has claimed that Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi could be fired anytime starting today. Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s Daybreak, Koech alleged that Muturi’s recent criticism of the government, particularly on issues of abductions and extrajudicial killings, has “called for” his removal from office.

Muturi, a former Attorney General, has been vocal in condemning the rising cases of abductions, especially targeting young people, and has openly challenged the government to address the crisis. His direct criticism of President William Ruto’s administration has reportedly not gone down well with the Head of State.

According to Koech, Muturi’s actions amount to daring the president to fire him. “I know what is happening politically. He is simply a man daring the president to fire him. He has called for it, and you will see it. In a week or two, CS Muturi will be home. He will be fired,” Koech asserted. He added, “He has pinched the president’s nose, and I can tell you for sure, he is a man going home. It could even be today.”

Muturi has dismissed threats of being removed from the Cabinet, maintaining his stance on the need for the government to address the alarming cases of abductions and killings. On Friday, while addressing the media at City Mortuary, where the bodies of two out of four young men abducted in Mlolongo were discovered, Muturi expressed outrage over the continued disappearances and murders.

“This is murder most foul. It is only fair that, at this point, the country shelves any other business to discuss this matter of abductions and extrajudicial killings,” Muturi stated, urging a thorough investigation into the crisis.

Meanwhile, allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have criticized Defense CS Aden Duale and other United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmakers for calling for Muturi’s resignation. They argue that Muturi’s concerns are legitimate and should not be dismissed as insubordination.

As the political tension escalates, all eyes are on President Ruto’s next move, with many speculating whether Muturi’s outspokenness will indeed cost him his position in the Cabinet.
