12th Parliament adjourned after passing 140 Laws

Kenya’s National Assembly held their last sitting on June 9, 2022 and adjourned indefinitely in preparation for the August general elections.

The house had its last sitting for one hour to finalise pending house business before proceeding to the members lounge where speaker Justin Muturi hosted a farewell cocktail to mark the end of the 12th Parliament. “It has been a great pleasure working together in the 12 the Parliament. We have made more friends than we had on August 30, 2017, when you were sworn in,” said Muturi.

He however, reminded the MPs that they are still members of Parliament until after the elections and asked them to be on standby in case they are required to attend any special seating.

The 12th Parliament debated 342 bills and passed 140 of them. The MPs wished one another well and expressed optimism that the 13th Parliament will be better.
