Ruto welcomes US Executive Order recognizing only two genders

During a sermon at the Global Cathedral in Nairobi on Sunday, President William Ruto expressed his approval of a recent Executive Order issued by former US President Donald Trump, which officially recognizes only two genders—male and female. Ruto emphasized that this decision aligns with Kenyan cultural and religious values.

“We thank God that this year, the first news from the US confirms what our faith and traditions uphold,” Ruto stated. “This development signifies a shift in policy that resonates with our belief that boys should remain boys and girls should remain girls.”

The President highlighted Kenya’s strong relationship with the United States, promising to further enhance bilateral ties between the two nations. “There is a special bond of friendship between the US and Kenya. The US has been a blessing to our nation, and we collaborate on various fronts,” he remarked.

Ruto also recalled his discussions with the US President last year regarding Kenya’s role in providing security assistance to Haiti, expressing pride that the new administration supports Kenya’s mission in that country.

Trump’s Executive Order, signed on his first day back in office, seeks to redefine gender within the federal government as strictly male or female. This move could significantly affect transgender individuals across the nation and aims to dismantle what some refer to as “woke” culture. The order mandates that this binary definition be reflected in official documents, including passports and federal policies regarding prison assignments.
