Ruto maintains onslaught on Gachagua during Western Kenya tour

On the final day of his developmental tour in Western Kenya, President William Ruto visited Bungoma and Busia counties, where his fraught relationship with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua took center stage.

During his visit, Ruto reiterated his reasons for parting ways with Gachagua, emphasizing his commitment to improving the lives of Kenyans. “He (Gachagua) doesn’t understand anything about the programs of the Republic of Kenya. He has no grasp on UHC, housing, agriculture, or the needs of our youth,” the President asserted.

In recent days, Gachagua has remained largely out of the public eye at his rural home in Wamunyoro. However, he intensified his criticism of Ruto’s administration during a TikTok session, claiming there has been little progress for Kenyans since the government took office over two years ago.

Ruto responded sharply, stating, “Alafu anasimama pale ati anataka kutupea lecture. Wewe unatupea lecture ya ujinga utupeleke wapi? Bure Kabisa… Those who preach division and hatred have no place in our nation.” He urged his critics to offer constructive solutions to the challenges facing the country instead of merely attacking his leadership.

The President emphasized his commitment to inclusive development, affirming, “There is no community in Kenya that is going to be isolated for whatever reason. There is no region in Kenya that is not going to partake of the development of our nation. That is my mission. I will not be distracted, dissuaded, or blackmailed, and nobody will stand in my way.”

In a show of optimism, President Ruto expressed his support for Raila Odinga, Kenya’s candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship, hoping for his success in securing the position.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the dynamics between Ruto and Gachagua remain a focal point of interest in the Kenyan political arena.
