Top Kenyan Singer Suzanna Owiyo mourns the Death of her Father

Popular Luo artist Suzanna Owiyo is mourning the loss of her father who passed on last night after some short illness.

Mourning the loss of her dad Thaddeus Owiyo, Suzanna Owiyo wrote: “It’s hard to say goodbye. I know you are in a better place, where there’s is no pain. You are at peace now. You’ll always be in my heart. Thank you for being a great father & a mentor to many. Rest well Dad. Till we meet again.”

Mzee Thaddeus Owiyo Ongoro hails from North Nyakach and is a famous figure having brought up a talented daughter Suzanna that is both an international musician and an actress.

Suzana came to fame when she composed the song Kisumu 100, that was a theme song for the centennial celebrations of the city of Kisumu. She also hs a new track, Piny Rumo – Odonjo Koso Okodonjo which she says is a wake-up call for parents to create time to connect with their children. She asks, “Is the World coming to an end?” We have literally forgotten our cultural values and that’s why we are raising a lost generation. In 2008, she performed at the Nelson Mandela‘s 90th birthday concert in London.

Her album won her a nomination in the Kora Awards 2002 in the “Most Promising Female Artist category” and a Kisima Awards for the Most Promising Female Artist of 2003.
