ODM leader Raila Odinga has come out strongly to in support of the Building Bridges Initiative as a liberator for women against poverty and discrimination.
Mr Odinga was speaking as he toured Kitengela town where he graced the ODM Women League meeting.
He implored women to rally behind the BBI report, adding that it will work towards bringing cohesion.
“BBI will stop any violence arising from electoral disputes and ensure equal representation of women in the National Assembly . It will ensure more resources are taken to the counties, ” said the ODM baron.
The former Prime Minister also criticized efforts by some political leaders to promote violence and cause division in the country saying their policies malicious and are opposed to reforms.
Mr. Odinga urged the youth not to be enticed by freebies being dished around in the name of the ‘Hustler narrative’ saying they are only temporary and a quick fix to their problems.
” I ask the youth to hold their horses. We are going to bring real change that works for them.” Raila added.
During the meeting, Mr. Odinga launched the “He for She Campaign” a drive in which ODM Women League members will reach out to men to support more women during elections.
Mr. Odinga also told religious institutions to stop being conduits of corruption and desist from “sanitizing dirty money” being offered every Sunday.
ODM also received defectors from other parties.
