Anne Kananu Mwenda hurriedly vetted & sworn in as Nairobi’s Deputy Governor

Fate of the planned March gubernatorial elections lay in jeopardy as the County Council of Nairobi successfully vetted and approved Ms. Anne Kananu Mwenda as the new Deputy Governor.

Kananu who was nominated by ousted governor Mike Sonko was vetted by a 10-member committee of the county assembly on Friday morning laying the ground for her swearing and gazettement as the Deputy Governor.

This development came after High Court judge Justice Anthony Mrima dismissed two applications by activist Okiya Omtatah and Habib Kongo opposing the vetting of the Deputy Governor nominee.
