Yoweri Museveni wins 6th term in Office as Bobi Wine protests

Uganda’s Electoral Commission on Saturday announced that the 78 year old incumbent Yoweri Museveni had won the country’s presidential election, cementing his position among the world’s longest-serving leaders.

According to the Commission a total 10,359,479 votes were cast in the January 14 poll out of the 18,103,603 registered voters with 9,978,093 valid votes and 381,386 declared invalid.. Museveni carried the day with 5,851,037 which translated to 58.64% followed by Bobi Wine who managed 3,475,298 votes (34.83%) to make him the official opposition leader.
