Nominated MP David Sankok’s son commits Suicide

Nominated MP David Sankok’s son committed suicide this afternoon with his father’s gun at their home in Ewaso Nyiro in Narok County. According to sources the boy Memusi Sankok who is a student at Kericho High School may have had an argument with his father regarding going back to school before he took his own life.

According to Narok DCI boss Mwenda Ethaiba, Sankok’s shotgun was found beside the body at around 4pm on Monday, May 2. The boy’s body was taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital Mortuary, as investigations into the unfortunate incident continue.

Several leaders have condoled with Hon. Sankok as a result of the tragic incident.

“Hon. David Sankok, it is painful to experience losing a child, and even more so, difficult having to bury one; we stand with you during this difficult time. Please accept condolences from Mama Ida and I. May God grant your entire family fortitude. We are praying for you.” said Raila Odinga

Baringo Senator and Kanu leader Hon. Gideon Moi said “I convey my heartfelt condolence to Hon. Sankok and his family following the tragic loss of his son. You are in our thoughts and prayers Mheshimiwa during this difficult time. Take heart and find comfort in God the Almighty.”

Deputy President William Ruto tweeted “Mheshimiwa David Ole Sankok and the family, you are in our prayers and thoughts during this painful time. May God grant you strength to bear with the loss of your dear son.”

Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga also joined in condoling with Sankok’s family, and tweeted: “​​My brother @olesankok pole sana for your tragic loss. The loss of a child is the most painful experience a parent can face.”

David Sankok was nominated to Parliament in 2017 to represent people living with disability. Before that he was chairperson of the National Council of People with Disability and a board member of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund.
