Ferdinand Omanyala bows out after finishing 5th in 100m semis

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala failed to qualify for the 100m finals at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon. The sensational Kenyan printer finished 5th position with a time of 10.14 thus missing out on the finals.

The 100M finals was won by American Fred Kerley who took Gold with a time of 9.86 Seconds followed by fellow Americans Bracy who took silver in 9.88sec, and Trayvon Bromell who claimed bronze with a time of 9.88 seconds.

Given that Omanyala did 9.77 Seconds in Sept.2021 pundits say he was in contention to win Gold in Oregon had he arrived on time and prepared well.

In May this year, Omanyala set a world lead of 9.85 to win the men’s 100m during the Kip Keino Classic at Moi Stadium, Kasarani beating Fred Kerley who clocked 9.92 who came second and Isaiah Young who was 3rd with a time of 10.13.
