Delaware Senator Chris Coons is leading a congressional delegation to Kenya in the aftermath of the contested presidential elections in Kenya.
The US delagation held talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta, President – elect William Ruto and former Prime Mnister Raila Odinga.
The congressional 5 country trip started in Cape Verde where they met with US Green Berets training their forces as part of US-Cape Verde partnership on maritime security. “I’m looking forward to strengthening ties with Cabo Verde and other African nations during this visit.” said Coons on his social media.
The delegation met with Kenya’s president elect William Ruto and discussed US-Kenya strategic partnership, promotion of peace and security in the region, and ways to strengthen US Kenya economies.
They also met former Prime Mnister Raila Odinga together with his running mate Martha Karua and Kisumu Governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyongo to discuss Kenya US democratic values.
The delegation also held talks with outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta.
