President Ruto criticizes Rigathi Gachagua for Divisive Politics

President William Ruto has accused impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of trying to create ethnic divisions among Kenyans, asserting that such tactics will prove ineffective. Since Gachagua’s ousting, he has persistently challenged the Kenya Kwanza government while courting support in the Mt. Kenya region, positioning himself for the 2027 elections and seemingly undermining Ruto’s authority.

Speaking at an event in Luanda, Vihiga County, Ruto pointed out that some political opponents, including Gachagua, were removed from their roles due to incompetence. This remark highlights the ongoing tensions within the political landscape.

At a roadside rally in Kakamega County, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi also weighed in, urging Gachagua to focus on his professional goals rather than criticizing the government. Mudavadi emphasized the necessity for Kenyans to embrace the Kenya Kwanza development agenda and to reject divisive rhetoric from those unlikely to win future elections.

“If someone has been mourning, that period is over. Kenya must move on. We cannot let the country stagnate while listening to grievances every other day,” Mudavadi stated, reinforcing the call for unity and progress. He reminded attendees that, according to the law, a person who has been impeached cannot hold any public office, not even that of a village elder.

As political tensions simmer, the emphasis remains on fostering national unity and a shared vision for Kenya’s future.
