The Director of Public Prosecutions has dropped the murder charges against Omar Lali, the boyfriend of the late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai just two days after he was set to be charged with murder at a Lamu Court.
According to State Counsel Edie Kadebe the DPP will now pursue the events that led to the death of Tecra through other avenues, due to interest for justice.
“It is a matter we have discussed and explored each angle with a lot of keenness, and decided that for the sake of public interest and in the interest of justice, we pursue an open inquest,” he said.
Omar Lali is the main suspect in the death of the late Tecra who reportedly fell in the bathroom of the house they shared. Lali was arrested after the death of Ms Muigai and was later released on bail.
