Homicide detectives are actively investigating the murder of Campbell Scott, a British national whose decomposing body was found in a Makueni forest after he went missing in Nairobi. Authorities are questioning several suspects as they seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
Among those under investigation are two men who were reportedly seen with Scott at a hotel in Westlands before his disappearance. One of the suspects was captured on CCTV leaving the hotel with Scott on Sunday at 4:36 p.m. Police believe this individual requested a taxi that transported them to Nairobi’s Pipeline estate on February 17, the day after Scott vanished.
A taxi driver who transported Scott and the suspect has been arrested, questioned, and subsequently released on police bond, although the vehicle remains in police custody for further investigation.
On Tuesday, crime scene investigators conducted a thorough examination at Makongo Forest, where Scott’s body was discovered. They revisited the scene to gather more evidence regarding the events leading up to his death.
Additionally, authorities have spoken to a witness who reported seeing the body wrapped in a sack on Saturday. As part of the ongoing investigation, plans are underway for an autopsy, and detectives are conducting a forensic analysis of Scott’s mobile phone and bank accounts to identify any financial transactions that may have occurred prior to his murder.
Investigators are also collaborating with UK authorities, as Scott was based in Britain before traveling to Kenya on February 16 for a business meeting. However, he disappeared the following day, prompting the current investigation.
