Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja is in trouble after a petition challenging his degree was filed before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Resolutions Committee tribunal. The committee has give the UDA Nairobi gubernatorial candidate till mid day 13th June to provide evidence of the authenticity of his papers.
The petition filed by Alex Musalia wants the senator barred from the gubernatorial race for failing to “meet the constitutional and statutory requirements to have a degree.” he argues that the senator had not satisfied the requirements of the law as it was not clear how he completed his degree studies abroad while serving as MP full-time. He says the circumstances under which the degree was accredited shortly before the submission of his papers to IEBC was suspect.
Doubts about the authenticity of the degree Sakaja presented to the IEBC took a new twist after it emerged that his name was not on the booklet from the Teams University graduation ceremony under the Bachelor of Science in Management graduands’ list in October 2016 that has been circulating in the media.
