Two polls released this morning project Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga as the most preferred presidential candidate with only 6 days to the August 9th general elections.
According to a poll conducted by multinational market research and consulting firm IPSOS Raila Odinga enjoys national support of 47% followed by Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s Deputy President William Ruto with 41% popularity. Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah come in with 2.9%, while David Mwaure of the Agano party has 0.2% support.
Another survey by Infotrak commissioned by the Nation Media Group however show the Azimio leader leading by 49% against William Ruto who is at 41%.
The IPSOS survey also show Raila leads in 18 counties at the Coast, Nyanza North, Lower Eastern and Southern Nyanza with over 55%. The Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate on the other hand leads in 17 counties in Mount Kenya and Central Rift. The pollster also established that the former premier has a stronghold in the urban areas, whereas the DP is mostly supported by voters in rural areas.
The also shows that 53pc of Kenyans feel the country is not moving in the right direction while 32pc hold contrary opinion.
