President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta received their 1st doze of Covid-19 Vaccine on 27th March at State house Nairobi. This followed the President’s executive order to have all members of his cabinet receive the vaccination in a bid to inspire confidence among Kenyans on the safety of the vaccine.
The government’s initial plan was to prioritize frontline workers such as healthcare and security personnel and teachers as they have a higher risk of contracting the virus due to their work.
The exercise was televised live and saw Cabinet ministers including Interior’s Fred Matiang’i and his Health Counterpart Mutahi Kagwe among others vaccinated.
