President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday held separate meetings with Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, who is also Chairperson of Assembly of IGAD Heads of State and Government on the sidelines of the 39th Extraordinary Assembly of IGAD summit held in Nairobi.
General Abdel Fattah was Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, the country’s Collective head of state established following the Sudan revolution in 2019 to prepare the country towards a transition to democracy. He however dissolved the Sovereignty Council formed to share power between the military and civilians after the military seized power in the October 2021 coup and deposed Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdock.
