President Uhuru Kenyatta on 26th May received the 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy at State House Nairobi. The 18-carat gold FIFA World Cup trophy is on a two-day tour of Kenya ahead of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
The trophy was handed to the Head of State by legendary Brazilian footballer Juliano Belleti, a World Cup winning defender, who is accompanying it on the tour.
Speaking at the occasion, the President said the presence of the trophy in Kenya is an inspiration to the country’s football fraternity. He added that the unveiling of the FIFA World Cup trophy in the country was also a great motivation to the youth to achieve greater football success.
This is the fourth time Kenya is hosting the coveted trophy, with earlier stops having been in 2010, 2013 and 2018.
