Latest results from the Ugandan Electoral Commission reveal that the incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is taking an early lead in the ongoing general election which was opened on Thursday.
The votes started trickling in at the Kyambogo main tallying center at around 2am on Friday, which was 5 hours later as promised by the electoral body.
So far the 76 year old Yoweri Museveni is leading with 61.31% of the votes which is 50,097 followed by his closest contender Mr. Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine at 27.9% which translates to 22,802 votes.
On the same note, the commission pointed out that 153 votes were invalid.
