Ruto accuses government officials of plot to interfere with polls

Deputy President William Ruto on 4th August 2022 accused government officials of plotting to mess up his victory in the upcoming general elections scheduled for Tuesday 9th August 2022.

Addressing the press at his Karen office, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate named Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, Maalim Mohammed, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang, Uasin Gishu’s Stephen Kihara and Esustus Mbui of Nakuru, of holding night meetings to plan and orchestrate conflict in his Rift Valley stronghold.

The Deputy President accused President Uhuru of working against him and added that the administrators and law enforcement officers were threatened that they would lose their jobs in the event they do not ensure victory for Azimio la Umoja’s Raila Odinga. “We are concerned about meetings which are being done in dark places to orchestrate what is not good for Kenya. The President met people in Nakuru and what is emerging from those meetings is the leaflets you see.”

Ruto also accused a section of journalists working for Kameme FM and Inooro TV of inciting members of the public even as the country heads to the polls and warned the Kenya Power MD Mr. Muli and the Director General of the Communications Authority Mr. Ezra Chiloba to exercise the responsibility of their offices and not subject Kenyans to blackout as was the case during the recent presidential debate.

The DP also accused Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohamed, and Mombasa governor, Hassan Ali Joho for hosting a doctored video allegedly showing his spewing hate speech and blamed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission being slow in dealing with the matter.

He also accused the state of undermining the freedom of association of his team by restricting access to Nyayo Stadium, Bukhungu Stadium and Tononoka grounds. “Today we are supposed to hold a meeting at Tononoka Grounds and some people are trying to use the police to block us. The excuse they are giving us is that the President is in Mombasa,” he said.
