Residents of Tharaka Nithi expressed dissatisfied with Deputy President William Ruto’s ‘s decision not to appoint Senator Kithure Kindiki as his running mate.
Speaking after the announcement, the residents said Ruto had convinced Senator Kindiki to vacate local politics in order to work with him on the national level and they wondered why he was being left out.
They criticised Rigathi Gachagua for planning demonstrations in Nyeri to armtwist the Deputy President to pick him when it was clear that most MPs preferred Kindiki.

They called upon the Senator to come back to Tharaka Nithi and give them guidance on what to do next saying that they were ready to defect to the Azimio One Kenya Alliance.
Meanwhile Senator Kithure Kindiki has promised to make an official statement about the decision that was taken by his political party United Democratic Alliance and the Kenya Kwanza coalition tomorrow.
“Following taken by my Party and coalition regarding the matter earlier today, I will make my official statement in public tomorrow, 16th May 2022. God bless Kenya and thank you” read part of his statement.
