After his attempts to block the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory, outgoing US President Donald Trump has for the first time promised an orderly transition hours after the Congress certified Joe Biden’s win.
In a statement released from the Whitehouse moments after a Joint session of Congress certified President Elect Joseph Biden’s electoral college victory, Trump said, “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th.” Said Trump in a statement.
The certification came in the wake of violent protests brought about by his supporters as they stormed the Capitol Hill to bring everything to a standstill. So destructive was the demonstration at the Capitol Hill that it led to the death of one woman and 3 others with several others being injured in the process.
However, despite promising an “orderly transition,” Trump still insisted that the 2020 elections that saw Biden defeat him was rigged.
