Deputy President William Ruto is under siege from leaders in Western province after referring to Defence Minister Eugene Wamalwa as a woman.
During a recent political rally in Bukhungu Stadium Kakamega County Wamalwa had claimed that the Deputy President had tried to slap him but Ruto hit back saying “In our culture we do not slap women, tell him that. We respect women, tell him to stop lying.”
This irked Wamalwa and his allies who have termed Ruto’s statements as unpresidential and disrespectful.
“William Ruto you have stooped the lowest in your public life, what you said and insults towards Eugene Wamalwa was very unpresidential. I respect you and I have never insulted you. I just said the truth that you wanted to sack me and slap me when you were in cabinet,” Wamalwa said.
The Defense minister said Ruto has ‘anger-management issues’ adding that in the past he had been accused of assaulting former assistant minister Reuben Chesire at State House during President Moi’s era.
“You didn’t start today; anger management is an issue that you have” said Wamalwa.
