CS Justin Muturi absent from Cabinet meeting amid Security concerns

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi was notably absent from Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting at the Kakamega State Lodge, where President William Ruto convened with the remaining 22 Cabinet Secretaries. Photographs from the meeting revealed Muturi’s absence, which is reportedly linked to his ongoing standoff with the State regarding a series of abductions that occurred in December 2024.

Muturi has been vocal about his concerns over national security, particularly following the abduction of his son in June 2024. “I have personally suffered as my son was abducted, leaving my family in turmoil,” he stated. He expressed frustration over the lack of answers regarding the disappearances of young Kenyans, including his own child. “I’ve not gotten any answers as to why my son was abducted, held incommunicado, and nobody gave any reasons for that abduction,” he added.

His comments have drawn backlash from some political leaders, including National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, who warned of potential impeachment if Muturi does not apologize to President Ruto. In response to the threats, Muturi has resolutely stated that he will not be intimidated by junior politicians. “I will just say bring it on. At my age, I’m not the kind of person to respond to some perfunctory statements made by fairly inexperienced politicians,” he asserted.

Muturi’s bold stance signals a willingness to confront his political adversaries, emphasizing that he remains undeterred by their threats.
