Inspector General issues Warning against Hate Speech

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has instructed his men in blue to act swiftly to peddlers of hate speech and incitement.

Mutyambai regretted that there is a trend cropping up among political leaders, who are spiteful and inciting the general public towards violence. His agitation was brought about when it occurred that these leaders were using social media avenues to spread their prejudice.

“Let us be alert that any perpetrator found spreading violence through hate speech will face drastic legal actions as it is a serious offence , ” said Mutyambai.

Mutyambai remarks were hinting at the recent utterances by MPs Oscar Sudi and Johana Ng’eno. Mr. Ng’eno was arrested yesterday and is awaiting arraignment in court, while his counterpart Sudi is still on probation.

The IG made it clear that the police will not relent on their fight against leaders who want to spread hate speech and incite the public towards violence.

Mutyambai made this vivid following a meeting with the National Security Advisory Committee that purposed to check on the political temperature in the country.
