Migori County Governor Okoth Obado on Wednesday morning presented himself to the EACC offices in Kisii County for grilling over the alleged misappropriation of millions of public funds a day after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji issued a warrant for his arrest.
Obado together with his four children are facing corruption allegations for mismanaging and embezzling amounts to the tune of 73.4 million. The four children under the radar of EACC are Jerry Zachary, Dan Achola Okoth, Susan Scarlet and Evelyn Adhiambo. Others in the mix are proxies of the governor Mr. Jared Kwaga, Joram Opala and Patroba Ochanda.
According to the EACC, there is a clear trail revealing how certain companies linked to Obado’s proxies wired 38 million to the bank accounts belonging to the children of the Governor. The report further discloses that the said amount was used to pay for their upkeep, medical bills, maintenance and school fees in Australia, United Kingdom and Scotland.
Some of the money was also used to buy two Toyota V8 land cruisers and another 34.5 million used to purchase an apartment in Loresho, Nairobi which benefited Evelyn Adhiambo Zachary.
