Migori Governor has been released on a Sh. 8.7 million cash bail or Sh. 20 million bond.
Chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi on Monday in his bail ruling ordered that Obado be barred from accessing Migori County offices until the case is closed.
Mugambi added that the same conditions that applied to former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu will also apply to Obado on access to his office. The magistrate said that the governor will be escorted to pick his personal belonging.
Obados juniors were also released on various bail amounts as follows; Dan Okoth Sh. 2 million, Scarlet Okoth Sh. 3 million, Jerry Okoth Sh. 2 million and Evelyn Okoth Sh. 2 million.
The chief magistrate also ordered the police to give all the identification cards numbers and passports of the accused in the case to the Immigration Department who will block their departure from Kenya .
On release , Obado accused ODM party of holding closed door meetings with Members of County Assembly to plan his ouster. ” There are meetings being held behind my back to plan for my ouster yet our case is still alive before the court, it is unfortunate to say the least,” said Obado.
He further added that the activities taking place could be a wider scheme to influence the verdict of the graft cases against him, wondering why the party was in a rush to impeach him.
